Harmanpreet Kaur wants to emulate India's U19 success at Women's T20 World Cup

India captain Harmanpreet Kaur wants to emulate India's U19 T20 World Cup success at the 2023 Women's T20 World Cup in South Africa. The Indian U19 team won the first-ever ICC Women's Trophy after defeating England in the final in South Africa. Ahead of the Women's T20 World Cup 2023, Harmanpreet said her team is motivated to win the ICC trophy and inspire young girls to play cricket.

"After watching the U19 World Cup, we are motivated to do what they have done. They have motivated us to do well, they have done it and we have not done it yet. It was a very special moment for all of us and after watching the U19s many of the girls back home will also want to play cricket and that’s always our aim to motivate young girls who can come and play cricket," Harmanpreet said at the Captain's Day in Cape Town.

Meanwhile, Pakistan captain Bismah Maroof said her team has improved and it gives them a chance to test themselves in South African conditions. "We have improved as a team over the years and this tournament gives us another opportunity to test ourselves. We are all pumped up and we’re excited to put in our best efforts to create good results for our team," Maroof said.

India will face Pakistan in their opening match of the Women's World Cup T20 at the Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town on February 12. India are in Group B, which also includes Ireland, England and the West Indies.
